One of the coolest things about the Saleen S331 Supercab is that it’s a total package. Anyone could build a fast Ford truck out of aftermarket parts, but Saleen has such a close relationship with Ford that they’re like a semi-in-house custom shop, and their creations are significantly more refined than any home builder could create. After all, they helped Ford build the Ford GT. The S331 starts life as a regular production Ford truck, but then Saleen’s crack team strips off the factory bits and starts bolting up their own performance parts. At the heart of the S331 is its namesake motor, the 330 cubic inch (i.e., 5.4-liter) V8 topped with Saleen’s own supercharger, a combination is good for 450 horsepower and a stump-pulling 500 ft-lbs. of torque—not that you’ll be pulling any stumps with this Saleen. You’ll be more likely to pull 0-60 mph runs in the high sixes. So while the S331 lives up to Saleen’s high standards of performance in a straight line, it’s no slouch in a corner either, thanks to the sticky rubber wrapped tight around the 23-inch forged wheels and a laundry list of suspension modifications. Outside, the S331 looks just like any other member of the Saleen family—all the same aggressive styling cues are there, writ large on the big truck.
