There have only been three Range Rovers since the model’s 1970 introduction, and each generation has added refinement and power to already sophisticated designs. The third generation Range Rover retains all of the off-road prowess that has made Range Rover a legendary name, so you don’t need to cover it in mud or park it sideways on a mountain to appreciate it. Thankfully, this Range Rover also has a little secret under the hood—a compressor that bumps horsepower up to a healthy 400, with plenty of torque on hand. All told, this supercharged V8 pulls the big Rover to 60 mph in a respectable 6.4 seconds. And thanks to a highly sophisticated air suspension system, road manners are superb, so it’s just as comfortable cruising through the urban jungle as it is flying over a dusty savanna on safari.
