Risi Competizione, already a highly successful ALMS team, has had great luck with their Ferraris, whether it was the 333SP, 360GT or this F430GT. The F430GT wears its endurance racing gear and livery well, fitting the car’s aggressive beauty. Starting with a road-going car, Ferrari and Michelotti collaborate to strip the car down for long-distance racing in several classes (this one being prepared specifically for ALMS and Le Mans GT2 racing), retaining the car’s aluminum chassis but replacing the body with a lightweight composite unit created out of several materials, including carbon fiber and Kevlar. A de-bored V8 breathes through restrictor plates for race duty, but it is also based on the production unit. The #83 car wears the livery of Risi partner Krohn Racing, a combination of electric green and deep blue that is impossible to miss.
