The ACR version of the Viper is, to cut right to the chase, a brutally efficient racing machine that is only a hair’s breadth away from being illegal to drive on the street (in fact, to do so, you’ll have to unbolt the front chin spoiler first). The vent-studded hood and massive rear wing are probably going to be the first clues that this is no ordinary Viper. In fact, the ACR has been optimized for two things—lower weight and higher downforce. What’s not part of the package is additional horsepower, because as anyone that’s spent time in a Viper SRT10 should know, it’s not necessary at all. If you need more power than what the ACR provides, you’re probably not driving it correctly. However, anyone would appreciate the uprated brakes, harder track-focused suspension, and race-ready alloy rims. It takes a brave driver to use the ACR hard without first getting to know its limits, and a braver one to attempt to unleash it on a public road, but for those adrenaline junkies who want a Viper that is as close to a Viper Competition Coupe as you could slap a license plate onto (if you really wanted to), then the ACR is your ticket.
