Saab is rather new to the idea of putting all-wheel drive into its cars, but you wouldn’t know it from the way the 9-3 Turbo X tenaciously grips to the pavement. Called XWD, the highly developed system can channel power both front-to-rear and side-to-side, to gain better traction or to maximize fuel economy depending on the circumstances. XWD has its hands full courtesy of the 2.8-liter V6, which is turbocharged to the tune of 280 horsepower. That means it’ll drive like the modern interpretation of the great turbo Saabs of the past (without the turbo lag), and its exterior evokes the same historical imagery. Take the split three-spoke alloys, which are a tribute to the Saab 900 SPG’s classic wheel design. And just like many vintage high performance cars from the Trollhättan manufacturer, you can have the Turbo X in any color you want, as long as its black (although thanks to the power of Forza’s Livery Editor, you can paint it however you’d like). It’s a triumphant return to the sporting roots of the famed Swedish company utilizing the most current modern technology for optimum performance.
