Audi’s hotter version of the well-proportioned A5 coupe is not only attractive and luxurious, it’s also a strong performer (as you might expect from any vehicle wearing Audi’s “S” badge). Thank Audi’s styling wizard Walter de’Silva for the exterior, and Audi’s relentless competition with other high-end manufacturers and a decades-long love affair with all-wheel drive for the performance aspect. The brand new chassis is highly rigid, as well providing a longer wheelbase than previous Audis thanks to cleaver positioning of drivetrain components, allowing for better weight distribution but also less front overhang—a feature that helps the S5 corner more effectively, as well as improving the clean lines of the car. Power is provided by a supple and strong 4-liter V8, and with 349 horsepower it’s not surprising that performance is exceptional—the large coupe takes less than 5 seconds to exceed 60 mph. And it looks good doing it, too.
