After a crash at Le Mans that destroyed their 2005 GT2 Class Champion Porsche GT3-RSR, the Petersen-White Lightning team took delivery of a new 2005 Porsche 911 GT3-RSR. They had one week to completely rebuild it to their specs, replacing almost every part except the fuel cell and some hoses. The team’s hard work paid off and they delivered a race-ready #31 for drivers Jörg Bergmeister and Patrick Long. The car’s race debut led to a win with more than 40 seconds between first and second place. The season led to Jörg Bergmeister winning the 2005 ALMS driver’s championship.
