The car that redefined the American sport sedan genre is back for more. The competition has gotten fiercer, so the CTS-V has been pumping iron and taking vitamins, and it bursts onto the scene rippling with muscle. But unlike muscle cars from back in the day, the CTS-V has the moves to match its brawn. A new, wider chassis and high-tech instantly adjustable suspension allow it to pull more than 0.9 G in skidpad tests, and massive 15” front brakes let you haul down from speed before reaching the apex. The real story is under the hood, where the supercharged V8 trembles and roars. It’s very similar to the engine in the top-of-the-line Corvette ZR-1, so power output is brutal: 556 horsepower at the command of your right foot. If you can keep the beefy 9.5” tires from liquefying, 60 mph should take just a tick over 4 seconds on the way to a 191 mph top speed. The CTS-V should make the German competition shake in their boots a little.
